What the...
Hi there... my name is Michael Penkov, I'm an 21 year old guy living in Sydney, Australia and I am a student at the University of New South Wales, where I am studying to reach a BE in Software Engineering. Hopefully you'll find your visit of this page a mind-altering, life-changing and thought-provoking experience. Or maybe not. Anyways, this page was created to let the world know about who I am. It's a place for me to philosophise and store random thoughts and insights. Consider this page as my contribution to mankind's eternal search for the meaning of life. If you're looking for the meaning of life, chances are you will feel like you're one step closer after you've read this. Or maybe not. Lastly, this page also serves to provide info for stalkers or people who have nothing better to do. I'll let you decide which category you belong to. First things first...
People I don't likeHmm... The list is too long. If you're reading this page because this is the only way you can find out more about me, then maybe it's because I don't like you and I've been avoiding you since session 1 2002 (if not before then...) ;) You people know who you are... if you feel like you are a persona non grata, then feel free to hit the back button on your browser as many times as necessary for you never to see this again... or, if you're brave enough, read on.
Now that that's out of the way...... scroll down the page to read the whole lot or click below to skip to a particular section.
Some interesting factsThis was originally intended to be a long list of my personal achievements but I ran out of ideas and opted for this instead.
But seriously...... I really am a nice guy. I enjoy poetry and long walks on the beach, etc... [ Back to

Life outside uni (yes, it exists)This is the part where I will try to convince you that I actualy do have a life outside of uni and that I don't waste my spare time twiddling my thumbs at home. In my quest for the meaning of life, I have gone through a number of interests - some stayed, some faded over time. Here's what I'm all about... I play Judo... I train with the UNSW Judo Club. I started training back in first year thinking it would only be a hobby, but it has gradually become a part of my lifestyle and now I'm treating it quite seriously, competing on a regular basis. 2004 came off to a good start when I was awarded a Sports Association scholarship right here at UNSW. I also play guitar. I've been playing classical guitar for a few years now but it never seemed to really carry me away. But a few weeks before the end of session 2 2003 (yep, right before the exams...) I got some money together, grabbed a guitar-playing friend and went out and bought myself an electric guitar. I've been kicking myself ever since... wtf didn't I do this earlier?! Sometimes I find it hard to stop playing... It's a great way to relax. And also to stay awake on all those long nights studying before exams. On top of that, I work part-time. This doesn't really fit into the life part of this section, but hey, it's my way of converting time into money into fun, so I guess it deserves a mention. While I'm on the topic, I'm still looking for that first job that will make all this time I spend at uni seem worthwhile. My success in this direction has been extremely limited and as of yet I have nothing to show for my efforts. I can only hope for the best and keep trying... [ Back to
